youANDme’s dance floor smash ‘PPPPP’ rocked dance floors across the White Isle and beyond last summer. Here Rhythm Cult return with part one of a two part series of remixes fresh for 2023.
Last summer, youANDme unleashed his explosive “Diva 2022” mix of “PPPPP,” setting ablaze dancefloors throughout Ibiza and solidifying its status as one of the hottest tracks of the season. Originally released seven years earlier the label’s unwavering confidence in this record was proven right as it received an overwhelming response from the global dance music community. Renowned DJs such as Ame, Dixon, Matthias Tanzmann, and Pete Tong (BBC Radio 1) championed this infectious anthem which destroyed dancefloors across the globe. Fast forward to 2023, and the track experiences a revival, with a stellar line-up of house music’s finest injecting their energy into the track.
Kicking things off is the unmistakable “Diva” mix, boasting an irresistible vocal hook and backed by a rough looping house jam. Its raw house groove made an impact the first time around, and now it returns to wreak yet more havoc. Next up, house music royalty Ian Pooley joins in serving up a sumptuous slice of fat analogue deepness. The remix, tailored for the house aficionados, creates a robust subby-groove and submerges the vocals in a wash of reverb. Cinthie, delivers a scorching reinterpretation that ups the tempo and focuses on the percussive elements. The Berlin-based producer concocts a colossal house-breaks crossover which seems destined to find favour with a wide range of DJs. Rumbling Reese bass fills and old school organs turn the track into a carnival of rave nostalgia that will tear apart dancefloors. Finally, Tel Aviv’s Yotam Avni delivers a remix that pays homage to classic house whilst still stamping his own edgy modern techno touch upon proceedings.
All in all, a superb package of fresh reinterpretations with something for everyone but if I was pushed to pick, then Cinthie’s red-hot breaks rework takes the prize. Bass-bin shattering stuff. Rhythm Cult is currently riding high after a series of strong releases and this package cements their position as one of the most forward-thinking labels around.
